Site Editing

All the committee members have access to edit the site and google drive.

Basic editing of pages on the Site

  1. Navigate to the page you want to edit
  2. Click 'Sign in' on the footer of the page
  3. Log in using your CMC email and password 
  4. Click the pencil button at the top right of the page
  5. Edit the page as necessary
  6. Click save

Insert a picture

  1. Place the cursor where you want a picture
  2. Click 'Insert' from the top menu, then 'Image'
  3. Navigate or upload image
  4. Click 'OK'
  5. You can edit the size of the box by hovering over the image and clicking the required size
  6. Also available is the alignment and text flow 

Insert a PDF (embed onto page) - For simple upload of files, refer to upload regs note 2.1

First refer to Google Drive notes below, then.
  1. Select and Open the pdf from the google drive
  2. When viewing the document Click the 3 dots (top right), click share
  3. In the popup box click 'get shareable link' to copy link to clipboard.
  4. Return to website editing page where you want to embed the pdf.
  5. Click 'insert' from the top menu, then 'drive', 'document'
  6. Paste the link in the box at the bottom of the popup.
  7. Click 'Select', then edit size, untick boarders/title etc & Save.
  8. You can edit the size of the box by hovering over the image and clicking the cog

Add a new blank page

  1. Click 'Sign in' on the footer of the page
  2. Log in using your CMC email and password 
  3. Click the page with a plus symbol, beside the pencil button at the top right of the page
  4. Give the page a name
  5. Click 'create'
To adjust page settings for the new page:
  1. To remove the default comments and files sections,
  2. Select the cog beside the new page button 
  3. Select page setup
  4. Untick the comments and files boxes.
  5. Save

Add page link to sidebar

  1. Click 'Sign in' on the footer of the page (if not already signed in)
  2. Log in using your CMC email and password (if not already signed in)
  3. Click the cog dropdown menu at the top right of the page
  4. Select 'Edit Site Layout'
  5. Click anywhere in the pages menu section
  6. In the popup, click add page 
  7. Select the page to add, ok
  8. Move the order using the up/down arrows on the right of the list. 
  9. Click 'OK'

Add external link to sidebar

  1. Click 'Sign in' on the footer of the page (if not already signed in)
  2. Log in using your CMC email and password (if not already signed in)
  3. Click the cog dropdown menu at the top right of the page
  4. Select 'Edit Site Layout'
  5. Click anywhere in the External Links menu section
  6. In the popup, click add URL 
  7. Enter the URL and Description, 
  8. Click the Open in new window box. 
  9. Move the order using the up/down arrows on the right of the list. 
  10. Click 'OK'

Google Drive

CMC files are stored in the Google Drive.

Visit drive.cranleighmotorclub.co.uk to see the files, log in using your CMC email and password.

There are several folders under 'Shared with me'
    Committee Folder          - Only the Committee has access to this and can be used to collaborate(edit shared copy)/store documents.
    Public Site files               - Used to store files where links can be put on the site or facebook.
    Public DL's Events          - Files placed in this folder are instantly available and will be seen on the website on the download page  
    Public DL's General        - Files placed in this folder are instantly available and will be seen on the website on the download page

NOTE: Images to be embeded to the site should not be stored in these folders as they needed to be uploaded to the site using the insert image item above.

To Upload Regs / files available to download to the site

  1. Visit drive.cranleighmotorclub.co.uk 
  2. Under 'Shared with me' select the folder you want to place file (typically Public DL's Events for REGS) 
    Drag and drop file and your file will instantly be available  cranleighmotorclub.co.uk/downloads or via the site menu 
For additional use of the file outside the downloads page:
  1. If you want the link to be available on facebook or on the site, select the file in the drive and click the 'get sharable link' in the top right bar, copy the URL
  2. paste into facebook or website.
